Kanyapur Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering :

    Discipline that applies engineering, physics, engineering mathematics, and material science principles to design, analyse, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.

The inception of Mechanical Engineering Department was in 1962 when it offered four years LME course. After a journey of few decades the Mechanical Engineering Department comes to its present condition offering three years diploma course with an intake of 60 students per year and two years diploma course with an intake of 12 students per year. The department provides laboratory facilities to the students of both diploma courses.

 The laboratories belong to this department are mentioned below: 

• Hydraulic Laboratory 
• Thermal Engineering Laboratory
• Refrigeration & Air Condition Laboratory
• Applied Mechanics Lab
• Metrology Laboratory

Each theoretical course is backed up by sufficient laboratory experiments. The students of this department may well claim the honour of being trained in the most sophisticated and state-of the art laboratories available in the state. The Workshop facilities provide hands-on training in the conventional machining and other traditional trades like Welding, Foundry and Pattern Making.

Departmental faculty members always take care of the academic affairs of the students. The department gives supports the other two departments Electrical Engineering and Computer Science by taken theory and laboratory classes like Technical Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Material, Power Plant engineering etc. This department also gets supports from the faculty members other two departments Electrical Engineering and Computer Science who take theory and laboratory classes like Electrical Technology, Fundamental of electronics, Principle of Electrical Engineering, Computer Fundamental etc.

The department frequently arrange seminar and workshop. Also, renowned personalities from the different academia institution and Industry are often invited to deliver lectures on the state of the art topics.

Industrial visits are also organized to make the students aware of the recent developments in the industry.

Many students get employment in the final year of the course through campus interviews and many opt for higher studies after qualifying examinations JELET.
